Favorite Character(s): Oh gosh, this is hard. Uhhhh. Currently really really REALLY high on Gan Ning/Ling Tong. I dig mostly everyone from Wu. Zhao Yun plus half of Shu. Cao family. Wei is my happy drug. Lu Bu is cute when with Diao Chan. Not as familiar with the Samurai peeps but, I adore Mitsunari to bits. Sanada is loud and naive and v. cute. Tachibana. Nene. Would probably be really fond of ALL of them if i played more.

Least Favorite Character(s): Dong Zhuo. And whatshisname tribe leader in DW5 like a damn cockroach D:

Favorite Pairing(s): GanLing. I dig all the het pairings, which also means i am torn when it comes to Sun Ce/Zhou Yu because they're so. cute. with their respective wives too~ Cao-ZhangFei-Xia triangle, no, not seriously, but they make me laugh. Mitsunari/Cao Pi is IN YOUR FACE, RAPING YOUR GAYDAR.

Game(s) Played: DW5, Orochi Warriors, a tiiiiiiny bit of SW: Extreme Legends.

Favorite Game(s): DW5 for character studies (i spend hours exploring the encyclopedea), OW for the cracktastic dialogue.

I almost never wirte but Gan Ling made me spit out 7K words in two days. It's now about 12K. Damnit. OTL I have this ridiculous shoujo-ppoi vision of them to be reunited in modern day AU and stay alive and be happy happy happy together XD;; They both quit their jobs and run an oden stall. ...Except they're supposed to be in Hong Kong. Are?;;; It will remain locked in a dark corner of my HD and will stay there till the end of time.

Lol, I'm totally joking, I just woke up and my brain is not quite functioning yet...

I dunno what's up with the Lu Xun x Gan Ning thing... but I have to say, that's not the worst I've seen. I once found a Cao Ren x Zhou Yu fic and I was like, "Huh... I don't remember them meeting EVER." But sometimes people just pair their favourite characters up whether it's plausible or not.

I could actually rant about that for hours. But I won't. Not because I don't want to be irritating, that's something I do anyway, but because I have to go to work ;P

I don't have anything against the pairing, just wanted to know where it came from. (Since it's so popular, i thought it would have a base in canon. But so far noone has given me an answer, so.... IDK.) Oh, i think Gan/Lu is different from Cao Ren/Zhou Yu in the sense that it's all over the place, whereas the pair you mentioned would most likely be a one-off thing? (Ie. someone thought it up while drunk or struck by some weird bolt of creativity.) But if Gan x Lu DOESN'T have any canon facts to work with, i guess i'll just go with your "pair up the hottest two guys" theory. ......Like Kakashi/Iruka. On that note, i didn't know that Gan Ning was that popular XDDDDD I haven't really surfed enough non-GanLing sites, but i reckon the Sun pairs are the most popular from Wu. (Zhou Tai/Sun Quan is a big favourite in Japan :D)

I'm a year and a half late, but I just came across this while poking through people's intros.

The character relationship chart in the DW4 data book connects Cao Ren and Zhou Yu over the campaign of Jiangling. (Though the campaign involved a bunch of Wu's best, Zhou Yu was the big cheese on that side.) I don't remember how much interaction they actually have during that battle in the game (or anything in DW4: XL, for that matter), but it does count as some small foundation in canon. Rival shipping has its fans, and Cao Ren and Zhou Yu share a certain thoughtfulness that makes me think that a pairing could be plausibly developed with enough thought and care. It might be tough to pull off in the rival context, but it has more basis than some other pairings not inspired by a strong canon friendship.

Do you remember the context of the story or where you saw it in the first place? I haven't come across anything like that on my usual archives. If it still exists somewhere, I'd like to read it.

the thing that is coolest about GanNing x LingTong? their names just FIT. whether as GanLing or NingTong.... SO awesome <3.

(the Gan Ning x Lu Xun bugs this one, actually. the pairing probably stemmed from the fact that they're the two favorite guys of Wu, pretty much. you know how yaoi-fangirls are.... XD)

GANLING? MOST POPULAR? REALLY? I thought that would be the case! Until i actually tried Googling GanLing fanstuff and was surprised when there was so little DDDD: (Fortunately there's a lot more material on them in the Jap fandom, but still not as much as i expected T_T Lawl most of the stuff i found is Gan/Lu.)

Oh man, i agree. GanLing. GaaaaaanLiiiiing. IT'S SO CONVENIENT. And this is me beeing nerdy but oh even their individual names are so lovely... (Though in Gan Ning's case, he doesn't exactly do the name justice XDDDD)

Okay, so it's a Kakashi/Iruka thing. I have to admit, they'd make a cute pair. Actually, i like the image of the trio - Gan Ning, Ling Tong, Lu Xun - as BBFs, it's adorable~

well, no, it's far from most popular.... Ling Tong came in kinda late in the series 'n' all.... (sorry if u were confused, just doing this word challenge thing where not allowed to say things like "i" or "me" ^^;;;)
