So I've been checking out the latest
Musou Orochi:Maou Sairin stuff off Koei Warriors. I guess when it comes out here, it'll be Warriors Orochi 2 rather than an XL type of expansion? It doesn't seem like a full sequel, but I guess there are significant changes. I hear they fixed the shockwaves on some of the DW characters and gave them back elemental effects, like Ma Chao's c6, and supposedly Lu Bu is back to being bad ass. The SW characters get their new charges from sw2:xl, plus some new costumes that aren't palette swaps. And there are 13 new characters, bringing the character count up to 92. Still, part of me wishes it was an expansion, since I always have the urge to max out everything in these games, and given there are 92 characters this time around, it kinda sucks to start over from scratch. (Actually, I don't think it will be totally scratch, I hear if you have a WO save when you play, everyone's first skill will be automatically unlocked) Then again, I do hate having to put in the SW2 disc every time I wanna play any of the non-XL character's story modes (to get their 5th weapons), so maybe its better its not an xl.
But I digress, I think my favorite new feature of the game are the special team attacks you get from certain combinations. Its the one feature I thought the first game was lacking. I mean, with the sheer number of characters and the connections between them, it seemed kinda lame that you didn't get special attacks from certain groupings. There seems to be a
listing of the special teams (though this recent
video showcasing some of the team attacks shows some combinations not listed) Some are obvious, like the Sun kids, or the three sword brothers (Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei). Others are groupings of type, like the archers (Ina, Huang Zhong and Xiahou Huan) or the ninjas (Hanzo, Kotaro, Kunioichi). Some I had to think about, like Mitsuhide, Lu Bu, and Wei Yan. I was wondering, what the heck do they have in common, but I guess all three are betrayers? In any case, I think its a cool little feature to have.
Owel, I can't wait until it comes out here!
