Just in case you haven't seen them, some DW6 character designs. Some characters are very different!

Dian Wei (whoa, a ball-and-chain now?)
Guan Yu (looks kinda yellow-turbany)
Lu Bu (the evil knight. what happened to the halberd? *grump*)
Lu Xun (no hat, makes him look older *grin* also, only one sword now)
Sun Shang Xiang (the chakrams are gone, replaced with a bow [i like!])
Xiahou Dun (whine, no more scimitar? *sniff* he also got a haircut)
Zhang Fei (has a double-voulge now, like wei yan)
Zhao Yun (looks like a knight now *grin*)
Zhou Yu (VERY different! sword has been axed in favor of a staff)

Now that I've unlocked Honda Tadakatsu, I decided to give him a whirl. So I paired him up with Ma Chao and a random other character depending on their level, and played them through WU 5-X, ANEGAWA, a few times. I also played the stages necessary to get their Personal Items, and later, Nene's Personal Item. I also played ANEGAWA once on hard (interm save, interim save, interim save!) in order to get them their 4th weapons. They are now both just over level 60. Equip that Acclaim! It really really helps level your characters faster, and gets you more growth points at the end of the sage!

These two both unlock levels of Cavalier, so they need to be played in order to get Cavalier 10, which is Red Hare / Matsukaze (you get one or the other randomly at the start of each stage -- oddly enough, I played about 6 stages last night and only ever got Red Hare). EDIT: If a DW char is in your first character slot, you get Red Hare, otherwise, Matsukaze.

NOTE: Your Cavalier 10 version of Red Hare is faster than the Red Hare that you can steal from Lu Bu / Guan Yu (or Matsukaze, from Maeda Keiji) in the stages that they're in, so keep that in mind. I have no idea why. A couple of stages I played had Lu Bu in them, and I always ended up parking my Red Hare next to his, and couldn't tell which was which after taking Lu Bu down. So I usually ran a short distance away and then whistled for my horse so the right one would come, rather than getting on the slower one accidentally. BTW, all characters can whistle their horse to them now!

Anyway, so I didn't play Ma Chao as much in the previous games, so I decided to give him a little more attention this time around. I actually kind of like him. He's a PWR character, but he has a quickness and finesse to him that most of the other PWR characters do not. His STTT+ is particularly brutal, especially with a good weapon with lots of good bonuses. It abuses the heck out of Air, and Multi doesn't seem to ruin the combo (like it can with some PWR characters), so I suggest using both of those weapon powers on Ma Chao. I haven't explored much more of his moveset outside of that yet because he just doesn't seem to need much else. His SSTTT+ isn't that great for crowd clearing, so I normally just use his plain ol' SSSSSS+ for that type of thing. With a decent weapon, that is usually sufficient, even on HARD mode (not for officers though).

By contrast, playing Honda is like driving a dump truck though a styrofoam peanut factory. Honda's moveset is basically the same as the one from SW2, which is okay, but not great. He falls behind Keiji and Musashi somewhere in the rankings of "utter badass" in the game, because of the lack of any particularly stand out moves. I normally use his SSTTT+, because that seems pretty decent for crowd clearing, and it can juggle any officers that you aim it toward at the end, making great and totally cheap use of Air. Also, his STTT+ is very erratic, making it almost impossible to keep it focused on an officer, which makes it not as useful. I have not noticed Multi causing any problems for Honda-man-tank's charge attacks either, so it would probably be a good weapon power to have for him in addition to Air.

So yeah, in conclusion, both Honda and Ma Chao have moves that juggle officers, so Air is a must for a weapon buff for them. And Multi doesn't seem to ruin either of their charge attacks, so it would be a useful weapon buff too. I have them both equipped with: bolt-flash-slay-brave-might-air-multi-agility

I'm also amused how similar Honda and Ma Chao are, personality-wise. It's kind of amusing to have them together in a group. I know everyone seems to compare Honda and Lu Bu, but I think Honda and Ma Chao are more similar. Instead, I would say Keiji is more similar to Lu Bu. Musashi is just insane without reason, I can't think of anyone in the DW series as powerful, fast, and cheap as him.

Has anyone else found it odd that for the DW series of games, they have the names in the correct order, "family_name given_name", whereas in the SW series of games, it's opposite, "given_name family_name"? Weird.

And on that note, "Da Qiao" and "Xiao Qiao" means "the older Qiao" and "the younger Qiao" respectively. No one seems to know what their real names were.

I wonder what's up with the short hair and the change of weapons on some of these characters. The only one I like with short hair is xiahou dun. Zhao Yun looks ok but I like his long pony tail style in the other games. At least they are trying to change it up a bit.

Hurr, there's also Sima Yi (http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/9505/asimayiid1.jpg) art up too. <3 He's my favorite so far. I can't wait to see a full-body of Zhang He's new look.

I must say though, it's quite odd to see all these new changes in the characters for DW6. Some of them are really neat, and some you just wouldn't expect. o_o

And as for SW and DW, I do believe in the original Japanese version they have the names the correct way (Family, Given), but the translated version has them switched around. Then again, I could be wrong. That's just what I could assume since it's done that way in dubbed animes and videogames. xD;

My thoughts...

Dian Wei - Ball and chain seem fitting, seems the new look is fitting.

Guan Yu - I agree. Yellow Turban, much?

Lu Bu - Hate the new look. Hate it.

Lu Xun - ...If he couldn't look anymore girly to me.

Sun Shang Xiang - She looks younger, and no chakrams? Hell no. I like them Chakrams, dammit.

Xiahou Dun - This is hot, I can't argue that one little bit.

Zhao Yun - Slight improvement. Can't see to much of a difference, however he does look more..what's the word? I dunno, I suck at words.

Zhou Yu - Do not want. I prefer sword. His moveset is fantastic! He doesn't need a fricken staff. Stay with the sword, man. STAY WITH IT. Just doesn't look like him to me anymore.

And my opinions are probably such because I've spent waaaaaay too much time playing DW5 and grown fond of everyone as they are.
