It is looking extremely likely that Pang De has indeed been cut. There was a rumor list somebody had leaked that listed names of new characters we'd be getting and that Pang De and Zuo Ci would not be returning. So far, the leak has been correct about all of the new characters (even Lian Shi) so it looks like it's pretty accurate. I'd say there's a high chance that we are not getting Pang De back this time around.

Well... I was thinking about how much this game has disappointed me so far, and how I didn't want to buy it for more than £10 (unless it came with an ACTUAL Cao Cao... MAYBE) and now I'm thinking... I MIGHT just rent it.

It's not just that I'm a huge Pang De fantard, but the fact that Jin and Bao Sanniang have been included in the game at the expense of a character that was kickass and had the potential for a really great character development.

Sorry, but Bao Sanniang alone brings this game down by a mile and a half. You can't include a fuck like that and drop a decent character. I don't care if Shu needs more women - just bring in a concubine for all I care, as long as she looks like a slut and not a cheap prostitute ¬¬

I hear you. I had been all set to import this for the treasure box schwag. Then along came the ruined setting immersion and the prioritizing of love interest adds over characters with more potential for a nuanced and varied narrative. The voice samples are hit or miss by Dynasty Warriors standards, laughable compared to the better current-gen games I've been playing.

I am still interested in the weapon switching, and I want to see what they wind up doing with the story. Even so, my primary remaining interest in this game is various friends' desire to see me snark it with a Let's Play, and I would be renting, borrowing, or buying used. This series had potential to add depth and weight while continuing to entertain. I'm tired of seeing said potential squandered, and all I can do is vote with my wallet.

If they released it this week while I'm actually going to be out your way I would totally force my way into your RL and make you be a fangirl with me for a weekend of DW gameplay. Because that is going to be the only way this game is going to be good. XD

That would be awesome. A good friend of mine, who is also a fellow musou fangirl, plans to visit sometime this summer. One of my main motivations to get DW7 at all is for the lulz with her and other old school DW-loving friends who share my disgruntlement over the ruination. She and I had a lot of fun with DW6: Empires. My spousal unit would hide downstairs in his man cave and play MMO's through all our squeeing.

I have to say, I don't even want to buy this just to bitch about it. If I had money to burn, perhaps, but... no. I want this game even less than I want Dragon Age 2 - and that is rapidly becoming one of the most "WTF" games of this year.

I had enough fun with Strikeforce - which was all gameplay, minimal story and characterization - that I suspect I would enjoy the weapon switching just for the variety of pwnination and the amusement of awkward weapon choices. I've also been writing enough about Dynasty Warriors series appeal, my hopes for a reboot, and my thoughts on DW7 so far that I feel like I should cap it off with a comprehensive review and/or rant. There's also the joy of snarking it with my friends.

Admittedly, I will still buy this game on the first day it comes out but UGH agreed on Sanniang. I'm trying to stay somewhat optimistic but I just cannot see myself liking her. Ever. Everything about her so far has just rubbed me the wrong way.

Yeah, if that was my only gripe then I'd probably buy it but the fact that I also want to stab all of Jin in the face (except Deng Ai, BECAUSE HE IS WEI) and am not interested in any of the new characters ... mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If the game comes with an ACTUAL Cao Cao, I might be persuaded to pay a tenner. I want Lu Meng to be downloadable content now. The ACTUAL Lu Meng.

Bao Sanidfagjkfjkld; can just...urgh. I hated her, then I heard her voice and now I want her to die in a fire. I'm trying to ignore her existance but she's a real killing point for me. Xiao Qiao was bad enough, but they've made someone worse than her.

I didn't mind the lack of women in the game. I'd rather go back to when we had few women but the ones we had (which 1 and 1/2 minor exceptions - not a huge fan of Da Qiao either) were awesome. I want DW4 Sun Shang Xiang, Zu Rong and Yue Ying back.

The game is about Ancient Chinese battles. No women were ever really involved in it though I like the inclusion of some. Pang De was. I think Koei need to go read up on who was actually doing the fighting.

I'd rather have fewer women with more depth, but the same can be said for characters in general. Most of the new characters look like they won't be adding anything to the game. Once more, Koei goes for quantity over quality - don't think about the gameplay, the characterisation or anything else when you can just shove in a load of Square Enix rejects for the fangirls!

I think Koei and any semblance to depth parted company a while back. I'm just hoping the Sqeenix resemblance stops at appearance, because if the general game play is like FFXIII in terms of quality, I'm not bothering. Even the awesome battle system couldn't save that game for me.

Urgh, I didn't even bother with Bao Sanity-is-not-here's bio. I listened to her voice, mentally hurled and gave up on the idea of her even being worth reading about.

Yue's voice annoyed me too. Probably because her line was of the lines of 'Oh my husband I'm following you into battle'. I'm on a real feminist rage at the moment. But at least Yue has brains - providing Koei actually still acknowledge this and don't reduce her to just fawning over Zhuge (not that fawning over Zhuge is a bad thing per say, just that she should be kick ass in her own right and she and Zhuge can fawn over each other in private when they've nothing better to do).

Having said that, I'm still raging as I was from day one over Zhao Yun looking like Ina. I love Ina's face, but on Ina.
